I think of myself as a really gifted 10 year old

Every once in a while... I still feel like I'm 10 or 12. There's the inhibited way of being, wanting to speak but not knowing the consequences, and wondering if I've managed to embarrass myself in front of everyone in class. Then, there's the gifted part. When something works completely, even if it shouldn't, regardless of my age or how old I feel at the given moment. It's a feeling of complete giddiness with heightened anxiety for repeated results.

So... when my son read to me tonight, that was one of the moments in which it all clicked - if only for a few moments. Was it really reading? No, he memorized Dr. Seuss. He's heard it a million times, but to hear him read it all with tone and volume, inflection and depth was astounding. When a 2 year old flips through 40+ pages of poetry that makes most tongues stumble, you can't help but be proud.

So... even though most of my day was spent feeling like that awkward tween, I had my gifted moments, and so did he.
